Hi, I’m Nicola. I have been involved in competitive sport from a very early age. I was a gymnast in my hometown of Crewe at the age of 4 and I was training 24 hours a week by the time I reached high school. I have competed regionally and nationally as a member of the artistic and tumbling gymnastic teams and qualified as a gymnastics coach to inspire many a young child to pursue their gymnastic dreams.
I took up running after moving to this side of The Pennines, this is when I plucked up the courage to join my first running club in Leeds, Abbey Runners.
I developed a keen interest in fitness, health and wellbeing, I qualified as gym instructor and personal trainer, and then completed England Athletics’ Leadership in Running Fitness qualification in 2012.
I have led beginners running groups for Kippax Harriers and was a keen competitor for Selby Striders.
After a break from running to have a family, I returned for six weeks of VOYAC hill sessions in the summer of 2020, and was strangely hooked on running again.
Running makes me feel like me. The more people I can help to experience and enjoy the benefits of running the better.
