The adults and junior sides of the club work differently, so it is worth reading which one is the right one for you before you sign up.

What else you need to know

England Athletics registration is included from U12. Every membership from U12 upwards covers EA registration, so you are registered to compete from the day you join, with nothing extra to pay except race fees.

Our community is run by our members. Parents and guardians are asked to help out in some capacity, or to be willing to compete themselves, as a condition of priority junior membership. It is the only way a volunteer-run club can remain affordable for all, and it is also how families move up the junior waiting list.

There is an access fund. If cost is the thing stopping you, email ian@valeofyork.org and it will be handled discreetly.

Sessions are led by England Athletics licensed coaches who are Enhanced DBS checked.

Junior places, in short

The junior waiting list is short at the moment, and Funetics at Sherburn in Elmet is full. Families who can help out at sessions are moved up the list. We have most space for 5 to 7 year olds at Bubwith and Tadcaster.

Children can start competing with cross country from Year 2 over the winter, and track and field from Year 5 over the summer. The junior page explains all of it, including how to join the waiting list.

Not sure which one you are?

Tell us what you do at the moment, or how old your child is, and we will tell you which membership fits. A real person reads these and responds to every one.

Fields marked * are required. Enquiries are answered by a person, not an automated system.
