Selby parkrun Celebrates its 7th Birthday in Style!

A fantastic morning of celebrations at Selby parkrun today as the event marked its 7th birthday! It was a day filled with personal triumphs, milestones, and the heartwarming return of a familiar face.

Kev’s Comeback

The biggest cheer of the day was reserved for Kev, who made an inspirational running comeback to parkrun after facing some serious health challenges. His determination and resilience are a true inspiration to every runner. Kev has been a constant parkrun volunteer at Selby and it was so good to welcome him back running again.

Welcome Connie and Good Luck Darragh

We were also delighted to welcome Connie to the parkrun family as she completed her very first parkrun. Well done, Connie! What a great achievement.

We also had a future parkrun star in our midst. Darragh was preparing for his big debut as junior parkrun run director at Brayton. We know he will do a fantastic job. Best of luck Darragh!

Mum, Donna, was on form today as well as she scored herself a new parkrun PB.

Vale of York Athletic Community supports junior parkrun and parkrun in Selby to encourage families and young people to participate. Junior athletes and families can join Vale of York Athletic Community for a reduced price in 2025.

Super Vet Steve Middup

In a morning of outstanding achievements, super vet Steve Middup smashed the sub 20-minute mark with an incredible PB of 19:53 for an 84.33% top-of-the-page age grade. An amazing way to cap off a stellar year of running. Steve is membership secretary at Vale of York Athletic Community and is leading by example.

Vale of York Athletic Community encourages its members to update their parkrun profile to show their affiliation with the club. There’s a handy guide in our November Newsletter.
