Mince Pies and Twin Climbs: Winter Solstice Run 2024

A Festive Finale to Wednesday Runs for 2024!

Well, we did it! We successfully reached the summits of Brayton Barff and Hambleton Hough tonight, and what a night it was! A massive thank you to Amelia for providing much-needed mince pies to go with our liquid refreshments for our annual Winter Solstice Run. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the end of our Wednesday evening runs for a few weeks while we take a Christmas break.

Despite the very wet conditions, everyone turned out and showed their commitment to the community. Well done especially to younger members Amelia and David for braving the elements. It’s great to see members of all ages supporting one another and sharing the experience of running together.

Even the railway gods seemed to be on our side! We crossed the railway bridge just in time to watch a long freight train pass underneath. It’s moments like these that make our community training runs so special.

A special mention to Harry Bromley and his choice of beverage – what exactly were you drinking?! (Apparently it was Archer’s peach schnapps provided by his mum). It was good to see the social side of the club in action tonight.

A Break for Christmas

That’s it for Wednesday runs for the next few weeks as we all take a Christmas break. But keep an eye on Teamo and the December newsletter for details of when we will be starting up again in the New Year.

A Special Parkrun Reunion

In the meantime, on Saturday, 28th December, our old friend Hossein Mohammadiha will be visiting Leeds and will be at Temple Newsam parkrun. It would be fantastic if as many of you as possible could join us to say hello.

Let’s show him the Vale of York community spirit and make him feel welcome!
